Superhero Moms' – Embracing the special moments

A world of unconditional love and understanding is a Mother. Through all the thick and thin is Mother. When a baby is born so is a mother. She dons on so many hats in the space of her life: friend, teacher, chef, artist, entrepreneur and many more.

For a child with special needs she needs to be mother and much more, her child ultimate life thread to the world around. She needs to believe in her child so that her child can conquer each milestones of their lives. Being a mother myself, and a speech therapist by profession I have had many a mother holds my hands and shed their emotions and then step outside with a smile on their faces to take on the world for their child. Priceless moments are recorded when a mother tells me moments in their lives when their children establish milestones that we so take for granted.

“I’m sad, give hug” tells a child with autism to his mother and it’s a moment recorded. “Amma” calls a hearing-impaired child to her mother, months after using a hearing aid and attending therapy. “He got a 7/10 for a class test today” says a mother of a child with learning disability who never used to make it past the 2/10 mark. Priceless moments indeed.

And all these moments are possible with the unconditional help, love and understanding of MOTHER!!

She needs to be Batman to bring light into her child’s life, Captain America to help conquer and achieve each milestone, The Incredible Hulk to stay strong for her child and a little bit of Mary Poppins on the side to brighten up each day with magic! Salute! Mother!
